What's that program all about?
TeleAuto is software package for image acquisition including auto-guiding, image stacking for stars and planets, image processing and filtering as well as photometry.
The main author is Philippe Martinole (see teleauto.org).
The automation for focusers and even domes is included as well as a scripting language for own automatisation tasks.
It is programmed with a grafical user interface running on Windows PCs.
It's based on the standard file format FITs but can load JPG, BMP, PIC and CPA as well.
The images can be saved in the mentioned formats as well plus additionally as text files.
There's a built in support for SBIG digital cameras, WebCams, Hisis and Audine.
By means of external plugins every other camera can be supported (see later for the Starlight Xpress HX916).
The image stacking of star fields is based on modelling all the stars and works completely automatic with highest precision and erros even lower than 0.1 pixel.
With errors bigger than 0.2 pixels the frames are rejected automatically so that they cannot degrade the final result.
The planetery version works with a cross-correlation algorithm.
Frame combination can be done as an addition, a mean, a median or the sophisticated Sigma Kappa, where the deviation of single pixels of the frames is taken into account.
Despite of deconvolution algorithms you will find a full set of useful filters for astronomy.
A lot of image analysis tools are available.
TeleAuto is now my main tool for image acquisition and image combining.
Mainly because of its great user interface.
Another important fact is that I like to work with several setups of main and guide telescopes.
And TeleAuto is supporting more than opne setup file.
Just load the right file and TeleAuto knows about the focal lengths and cameras used and so on.
